British Under 18 Semi Final 1
 
Jay Patterson, Cain Smith and Alex Kelly were all hotly tipped to progress to the British Under 18 Final and duly filled the rostrum places as they did so with the minimum of fuss.  Shane Arnold impressed in finishing 4th, only missing out on the rostrum after a run-off, and Allan Cormack also recorded double figures as he qualified with ease.  Oliver Courtney is another rider who is amongst the favourites for the title this season and although he finished down in 6th he showed his quality to make it through despite an engine failure and an exclusion in his 5 rides.  The others to reach the final were Robby Watson and Steven Milne, both having room to spare despite being non-finishers in a heat apiece.
 
The biggest surprise of the day, according to the pre-meeting odds, was the failure of Shayne Oldham to go through, finishing in 10th with 6 points as he failed to record a heat win.  The rest pretty much went according to plan although there were some sympathies for Sam Woodcock who was denied a chance to progress when he pulled up with bike troubles in his final ride, ending just 2 point adrift of the final qualifiers.

British Under 18 Semi Final 2
 
No problem for pre-meeting favourite Riley Payne as he raced to a maximum and a place in the final where he will be looking to repeat this display, although it will be much tougher with a few highly fancied riders from the other semi final of course.  Luke Cook and Adam Austin lived up to their pre-meeting billing as the trio looked streets ahead of the rest of the field and deservedly filled the rostrum spots at the end.  It was quite a battle behind with the final analysis seeing steady displays from Greg Randall, David Jenner and Derek Tompkins giving them 8 points and a final place each.  Kieron Thorne started with a fall and ended with a pointless ride but showed his potential in between to score 7, which proved enough for 7th place.  The final qualifying spot required a run-off after 3 riders have ended level on 6 points - it was eventually won by Adam Hunter to complete the final line-up.
 
There were a couple of surprising non-qualifiers in this extrememly competitive semi, as the bottom 9 places were all separated by just 1 point!  Luke Dempsey certainly wasn't on his best form and seemed to have bike troubles, which caused him to pull up in one race, when most expected him to make it through.  Seb Woodward had some awful luck, with a fall and a 2-minute exclusion, but still reached the run-off for the final place although couldn't catch the fast starting Hunter in the crucial decider.
